Could You Be Missing Thousands in
Super? Here's How to Find Out

I thought mine was fine, until I discovered unpaid super from a past employer.

I'm not a financial adviser. I'm a former journalist and communications specialist who discovered funds missing from my own superannuation.

It started with curiosity one weekend. I checked my statements, did the maths, and what I found shocked me. Past employers hadn't been paying the correct amount, and no one noticed. If it could happen to me, it could happen to anyone.

That discovery set me on a mission to figure out how to check Super, spot missing payments, and take action.

Why This Matters

If you've worked in Australia, whether you're an Australian citizen, permanent resident, temporary resident, or here on a working visa from the Pacific, UK, or anywhere in the world, your employer has likely been required to pay superannuation into a Super Fund for you.

But here's the problem. Every year, millions of workers are underpaid Super, and most never realise it.

The latest figures show:

  • 3.3 million workers were underpaid in 2022–23.
  • That’s $5.7 billion in total — about $1,730 per person.
  • Over a career, that can mean $30,000+ missing from your retirement savings.

And here’s the kicker:

You might never know unless you check.

And that's exactly what the Super Check Starter Kit will help you do. Once it's ready, I'll share it.
